The bell tolls for the deserving - death, birth, marriage, baptism, great joy or great sorrow. Like the drum it was mass communication before industrialization. Sometines it warns - if humanity had seen beyond the self, and discarded THINGS the planet would be in less danger from man and his destructive desires that result in sorrow and pollution. AAAHHHHH to have modern knowledge, hygiene, medical advances and all the best from our time and combine it with the best from the past such as family, friendship and respect for all living beings the bell would toll content and hope. A world free from the many unpleasant human failings - too good to be true. A DREAMER
